I have been analysing the olive harvest yields that we have achieved over the last three years and see some warning signs. Fluctuating yields are showing that the increments we achieved year on year over the previous five years could not be extrapolated to deliver increases in olive production going forward into 2019 and 2020.
This has had serious impacts on our business as production volumes have become unpredictable. The one thing that has remained constant is the quality of our oil. This is because we grow organically without using chemicals, we harvest consistently, and we process the harvested fruit in the mill with consistent quality controls and manufacturing processes.
What varies then is the quantity of olive oil available for the following twelve months. Because of commitments to wholesale customers we have had to ration some of our products so they have been unavailable to all of our customers. We are disappointed that we can't supply customers who have built up a real liking for a particular oil and we are unable to supply it. We hate it when we can't supply what they really want!
Just yesterday a customer called me about an order and told me that they really love our Tuscan Blend - "I could almost drink it because it is so lovely" she said.
So, to make sure we can always supply the flavours that customers enjoy we will be sourcing our olive oil from a number of producers who can provide the flavour profiles that have won so many international awards and that our customers love.
While we have good stcks of Tuscan Blend and Azzuro Blend, we have a limited supply of Early Harvest 2018. This oil has been popular with many of our customers so if you like a spicy oil with a nice touch of pepperiness click here to get your bottles while stocks last.
